On 17 September between 44 and 50 attendees gathered at George Lea Park for the Parkmore Community Association's PCA | 24/7 Emergency-Ready Forum. This vital session brought together Parkmore staff, and 24/7 Security to discuss key strategies for enhancing safety in the community. The forum focused on effective communication, crime prevention, and the importance of working together to maintain security in Parkmore.

Key Points Discussed:
✅ Panic Buttons: Staff should always carry panic buttons for immediate access during emergencies.
✅ Electric Fence Checks: Instructions were provided on how to ensure electric fences are functioning properly.
✅ Tone in Emergencies: The importance of maintaining a calm and clear voice when communicating with 24/7 security.
✅ Group Safety: Always walk in groups, especially in winter, to reduce vulnerability.
✅ Life Over Property: Prioritise personal safety over property—don’t take unnecessary risks.
✅ Criminal Awareness: Think like a criminal to better understand their tactics and stay vigilant.
✅ Reporting Information: Residents were encouraged to report even small pieces of information to aid security efforts.
✅ Criminals Not Welcome: Reinforcement that criminals should know they are not welcome in Parkmore.
✅ Staff-Employer Relations: Strong relationships between staff and employers are vital for security, as staff are the eyes and ears of the community.
✅ Identifying Suspicious Activity: Tips on recognising criminals and suspicious vehicles were shared.
✅ Secure Communication: Always have passwords ready when contacting 24/7 security and be mindful of what you share publicly, as criminals may pick up on conversations.
👉 The forum highlighted the essential role of staff in ensuring the safety of Parkmore. Beverages, snacks, and pizza were served, and attendees expressed that they found the forum highly beneficial, gaining valuable safety tips for homes, businesses, and schools.
👉 The next meeting will take a deeper look at first aid procedures and how to respond in the event of a fire, further building the community's readiness to handle emergencies (date to be confirmed).
